Teaching and Learning

Overview

In the tight-knit Balboa Academy community of the elementary school ( Pre-Kindergarten to 4 grade), the youngest members are exploring and interacting while acquiring the essential skills for academic success.  Nurturing and talented teachers have a vast knowledge of the subjects they teach and a unique understanding of young children and their learning styles.

Middle school students (Grades 5 to 8), become more independent as they start to question the world around them.  Our teachers understand young adolescents and work to provide a structured yet supportive environment in which each student can develop confidence and discover their own strengths and talents. Our skilled middle school teachers lead the students in discovering their capabilities for leadership and the necessary qualities of confidence, ethics, responsibilities, and respect.

In the high school (Grades 9 to 12), the academic program is rigorous with a broad range of Advanced Placement (AP) classes offered in a college preparatory curriculum.  Our teachers give their time, friendship and support in countless interactions with the students, to ensure that every student is successful in a community where they are known and understood.
