Sports is is an optional after school activity at Balboa Academy.

Balboa Academy is a member of the:

High School Team Sports

High school sports emphasize team commitments, sportsmanship,  a high level of skill development, and competitive play.  All students who meet attendance and grade requirements are invited to participate.  The high school offers varsity and junior varsity teams when there is sufficient interest and demand.

Both boys’ and girls’ teams play against Panama high school teams in the local ADECOP sports league and against Central American international schools in annual tournaments through the AASCA.   BA teams practice and play games after school.  Balboa Academy has organized high school teams in:

  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Cayucos  (Sponsored by Balboa Paddle Club)
  • Triathlon  (Sponsored by Union de Triathlon de Panama)

Middle School Team Sports

The middle school sports program emphases participation, sportsmanship, basic skills development, and knowledge of the rules of the sport.  All students who meet grade and attendance requirements are invited to participate.

Both boys’ and girls’ teams play against Panama middle school teams in the local ADECOP sports league. These teams practice and play games after school. The teams are organized by age category.  Balboa Academy has organized elementary school teams in: 

  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • American Football  (Dragons play in Kiwanis football league)
  • Triathlon  (Sponsored by Union de Triathlon de Panama)

  • Congratulations to the girls' high school soccer team. They finished in  2nd place overall for ADECOP. Way to go Dragons!
     

  • Middle school boys' soccer team finished 4th overall in ADECOP after a tie game and loss of the tie breaker to Colegio Real.
     

  • High school boys' soccer team finished 4th.

Fitness and Wellness

Balboa Academy organizes after-school fitness and wellness activities for all students.  In addition to school-based activities, many Balboa Academy students participate in local sports clubs and participate in the Cayuco Race, Iron Kids Triathlon, American football, swimming, little league baseball , soccer, golf and tennis .
