Online Application

Create one username and password to apply for your child or children. The $50 application fee can be charged to your credit card or PayPal account. 

Paper Application

If you would prefer to fill out the paper version of our application, you may make your application fee by paying in person with cash, credit card, or local check in our Finance Office or through Banca en Linea to Banco General directed to the account:

Application Procedure:

  1. Complete Balboa Academy’s application online our with our forms (please see links above) and submit the $50 application payment.  
  2. The Admissions Office will contact you via email to confirm receipt of documents and inform you if any documents are missing. 
  3. The Admissions Committee will review complete applications to determine if an applicant will be invited for an in-person evaluation. 
  4. The Admissions Office will invite prospective applicants via email to schedule a time for an evaluation with an Educational Specialist. 
  5. After the evaluation and receipt of all application documents, the Admissions Committee will give a final decision. 
  6. The Admissions Office will email parents the Admissions Committee’s final decision. 
  7. *Please note that all international students coming to Panama must validate their school records with Panama’s Ministry of Education (MEDUCA). 

Balboa Academy Forms:

  • Balboa Academy Application Form (please include school email for the Admissions Office to send our Recommendation Forms Packet) 
  • The Recommendation Forms Packet will be sent directly to your child’s school for the following faculty members to fill out and send back to Balboa Academy:
    • Principal or Counselor
    • English Teacher
    • Math Teacher
  • Sponsored/Non Sponsored Form

 

Additionally, please include the following in your child’s application:

  • Copy of child’s passport 
  • Copy of child’s birth certificate 
  • Copy of child’s Immunization Records or our Immunization Form filled out by your child’s pediatrician. 
  • Copy of both Parent’s passports 
  • Copy of all Academic Records including current School Year (Note: Balboa Academy accepts copies in English or Spanish. Panama’s Ministry of Education [MEDUCA] will require originals translated into Spanish by a notarized translator in Panama if records are not in Spanish.) 

Evaluation Process

Students invited for an evaluation will schedule a date and time with one of our Educational Specialists. Our Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten evaluation has a duration of approximately 30 minutes and covers such concepts are shapes, letters, and numbers. The 1st-12th-grade evaluation has a duration of approximately one hour and covers reading, writing, and arithmetic. The evaluation is not an English proficiency test but is proctored entirely in English. The evaluation has a $100 fee to be paid on the date of the evaluation. 

 

Admissions Committee Decisions

Balboa Academy’s Admissions Committee will review complete applications for a final decision within 30 calendar days. Students may be accepted without conditions, accepted with conditions, denied, or placed on our waiting list. 

 

 

Note:  Upon Admission to Balboa Academy, we recommend grade placement for each student. Parents applying with school transcripts or records from outside of Panama must have those validated through the Ministry of Foreign Relations (Embassy of the Country of Origin) and the Panamanian Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) to officially assign entering Grade placement.
