Balboa Academy has been
very successful in getting our students accepted into the
college or university of their choice. In 2009, 98% of
the graduating seniors went on to attend a college or
university. In Jun 2010 89% of the senior class has
been accepted by a college and have indicated that they will
attend.

AP Courses Eighteen
students at Balboa Academy earned AP Scholar awards from the College Board
in recognition of their exceptional educational achievement in 2009.
In 2009, 129 Students received a 3 or better on the College Board Advanced
Placement Examination and will receive college credit or advanced placement
recognition from the college or university they attend.
AP exam scores are an
important factor in determining college acceptance and how well-prepared
students are for college-level work.

Twenty one students received college
credit in 2009 for completing the College Freshman English
Composition course in their senior year of high school.
Students graduating from Balboa Academy
are not required to take the TOEFL exam for admission into a
US college or university. All
10 and 11 grade students take the
College Board Practice
Scholastic Achievement Test (PSAT)
and second semester 11th grade and 12th grade students take
the
College Board
Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT).

In
the spring of the 2007-08 school Year, Balboa Academy
changed from the
TerraNova
Standard Achievement Test to the
NWEA
Measures of Academic
Progress (MAP) test. MAP tests will be given in
fall and spring of each year. The MAP test is a US
standards aligned computerized adaptive assessment that
accurately reflect the instructional level of each student
and measures growth over time.
